My Photographics

Jayson & Joanne Arquiza, Jeff & Lisa Llarena, Wally & Ge-Ann Magno to name a few are some of the country’s seasoned couple tag teams in Wedding / Events Photography. And now, joining the new breed of photographers are real life couple Oliver Calingo and Jovelyn Bajo; most popularly known as ‘Ver & Jube’ of Ver Jube Photographics.

Ver and Jube’s passion for photography began long before they bought a professional camera. Jube, who also possessed mad cooking skills, had a habit of taking amateur pictures of her ‘FoodiEscape’ recipes using her camera phone; which she would post on her personal blog. Ver, on the other hand, took pleasure in food styling. Together, they would transform these amateur pictures into nifty and professional-looking photographs, while enjoying the subject, rather the food, as well. For a brief period of time, they have learned and maximized the techniques of producing good photographs with just a point and shoot camera. What’s their secret? Besides their delight in doing activities together as a couple, they are both endowed with an artistic eye and a flair for photo editing. Indeed, as the late American Photographer Edward Steichen would put it, “No photographer is as good as the simplest camera.” Eventually, it was the prodding of some friends and a leisure trip in Baguio City back in 2009 that triggered Ver & Jube to finally decide on purchasing a DSLR. Their ‘babies’ Dao (Nikon D40 bought in May 2009) and Dinah (Nikon D90 bought in January 2010) served as their tools to further hone their talent in photography. In addition to that, they’ve looked up to several personalities in the industry. Among their photography ‘heroes’ / influences are Oly Ruiz of My Metro Photo, Manny Librodo on Portraiture, Joel Garcia on Concerts & Events and Dinno Sandoval on Landscapes.

To date, Ver Jube Photographics has covered a number of prestigious events from jazz and rock gigs to major and international concerts, from debut to wedding parties, from food to breathtaking landscapes, and from local festivals to poignant events in history (See their photography portfolio!).

Ver & Jube may be neophytes in the industry, but their photos definitely tell stories of REAL emotions as you can tell that each image captures the heart of their audience.
